Palm trees and the luxurious Mediterranean architecture provide a perfect backdrop for sunning, people watching and betting. LEAVING THE PADDOCK showcases a palette of lush sun drenched colors. LeRoy invites the viewer to participate in the rites and rituals of a stake race. Celebrities and officials, spectators and bettors, intermingle and sip cool drinks under the umbrellas. All eyes are focused on the field of thoroughbreds in all of their nobility, as they head for the post parade, the starting gate and the race.

Herkunft / Geschichte: LeRoy Neiman chronicler of American history pays homage to the great emancipator, our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. Not only are we celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Lincoln’s birth but also the inauguration of our 44th President, Barack Obama. In 1969 Neiman painted Lincoln. The painting now hangs in the Lincoln Museum in Springfield, Illinois. LeRoy Neiman was honored in this Bicentennial year with Illinois’ highest honor, “The Order of Lincoln”. A blowup of the original painting was used as the backdrop during President Obama’s televised speech.Inspired by the Lincoln Bicentennial, Neiman painted the present portrait celebrating the President who saved the Union and formally ended slavery. The artist captures Lincoln’s bone structure conveying the integrity, the very essence of an icon of strength. Staccato brush strokes and pulsating color capture Lincoln’s determination and confidence. The eyes are discerning and piercing. Just as Lincoln’s speeches were classics of clarity and grace, this portrait of Lincoln speaks volumes. Herkunft / Geschichte: LeRoy Neiman once again takes us to the glittering world of high society, this time it's opening night at the National Horse Show in Madison Square Garden, New York. The National Horse Show is the grandest event of the prestigious indoor horse show circuit. We join the socialites as they meet and mingle around the show ring. Top hats and tailcoats, regal evening gowns, furs and sparkling jewels heighten the sense of anticipation. Neiman captures the excitement and tension of the moment, the thrill of being there, witnessing the fierce competition of the Grand Prix equestrians. Not until the last obstacle is overtaken does enthusiastic applause ring out throughout the Garden. LeRoy Neiman has just been named the Official Commemorative Artist of the 2010 World Equestrian Games. Horses have always been a favorite subject.
