


B. 1717-1786 - Alexander Cozens was born in Russia and was educated in England. He returned to his native country shortly after he completed his studies and did not settle in England until around the age of thirty. He became the first British artist to work solely as a landscape artist and earned respect for his medium. In addition, he was also a popular teacher and wrote multiple treatises.
