Art Brokerage 1941 - Helmut Preiss was born in 1941 in Vienna, Austria and attended the Academy of Art, Vienna, at the age of 16. There he studied the painting and drawing techniques of the old masters. He held his first major exhibition in 1973 at The Museum of Art in Munich. Many one man shows throughout Europe and the USA followed. In 1991 Helmut Preiss began a new transition in his art. Feeling trapped by naturalism, he felt the need to change from Neo Surrealism to a new Contemporary Style. He needed more color, more form, more freedom of expression. This new realization gave him the possibility of working the finest details of abstract images and forms into his art and a new way of using his knowledge of naturalism. A fine example of this, is the painting "Three Figures," one in a series titled "MECHANICAL FIGURES." His collages incorporate cut outs from individual, original abstract paintings to create powerful images. He was invited to the International Biennale in Florence, Italy 2005 and was recently exhibited in the Agora Gallery in New York City, Sept.-Dec, 2005.
